Grilled Beef Steak with Garlic Herb Butter

Nothing beats the bold, smoky flavour of a perfectly grilled beef steak — especially when it’s finished with melting garlic herb butter. This BBQ favourite is simple to prepare, quick to cook, and delivers restaurant-quality results right at home.

Whether you’re firing up the barbecue for a weekend feast or a midweek dinner, this steak recipe guarantees a tender, juicy bite every time. The garlic butter topping adds a rich, savoury touch that elevates the meat to the next level.

Perfectly paired with grilled veggies, baked potatoes, or a crisp garden salad — it’s a must-try for steak lovers.

Ingredients:

For the steak:

  • 2 beef steaks (ribeye, sirloin, or scotch fillet — about 250–300g each)
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

For the garlic herb butter:

  • 50g unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary or thyme, chopped
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Make the garlic butter: In a small bowl, mix softened butter with garlic, herbs, and a pinch of salt. Transfer to baking paper, roll into a log, and refrigerate until firm.
  2. Prep the steaks: Bring steaks to room temperature. Rub with olive oil, salt, and pepper on both sides.
  3. Grill: Heat BBQ grill or griddle to high heat. Cook steaks for 3–4 minutes per side (medium-rare), or to desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer if needed (55–60°C for medium-rare).
  4. Rest: Transfer steaks to a plate, top with a slice of garlic butter, and cover loosely with foil. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
