Looking for a satisfying plant-based snack or side with serious crunch? These Crispy Tofu Bites are golden on the outside, soft on the inside, and tossed in a sticky sweet chili glaze that hits all the right notes — spicy, tangy, and just a little sweet.
Using the air fryer means you get all the crunch with minimal oil. These bites are vegan, high in protein, and incredibly versatile — serve as an appetiser, over rice, or in wraps.
Ingredients:
- 400g firm tofu, pressed and cubed
- 1 tablespoon cornflour
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or spray oil
- Salt and pepper
For the glaze:
- 3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar or lime juice
- ½ teaspoon grated ginger (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (390°F).
- Toss tofu cubes with cornflour, oil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- Arrange tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 12–15 minutes, shaking halfway through, until golden and crisp.
- Meanwhile, mix all glaze ingredients in a small saucepan and warm over low heat.
- Toss cooked tofu in the glaze until fully coated.
- Serve hot with extra sauce on the side or over rice/greens.
