Apple Crumble with Vanilla Ice Cream

Warm, comforting, and filled with cinnamon-spiced apples, Apple Crumble is a timeless dessert that’s loved across generations. With a golden, buttery oat topping and tender apple filling, it’s the perfect sweet treat to bake for family dinners, special occasions, or cold evenings.

Paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, this dessert offers a contrast of hot and cold, soft and crunchy — irresistible in every bite. Best of all, it’s made from simple pantry ingredients and is easy enough for beginner bakers.

Ingredients:

For the apple filling:

  • 5 medium apples, peeled and sliced (Granny Smith or Pink Lady work best)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon plain flour

For the crumble topping:

  • ¾ cup plain flour
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 100g cold unsalted butter, cubed

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour. Transfer to a greased baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, oats, sugar, and cinnamon. Rub the cold butter into the mixture using your fingers until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the apples.
  5. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the apple filling is bubbling.
  6. Let rest for 5–10 minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
