- 500g minced beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons plain flour
- 1 cup beef stock
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 sheets puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Tomato sauce, for serving
Instructions:
- In a large frying pan, sauté the chopped onion over medium heat until soft.
- Add the minced beef and cook, stirring, until browned.
- Sprinkle in the flour and stir through for 1 minute to cook it out.
- Pour in the beef stock and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and simmer uncovered for 10–12 minutes, until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
- Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F).
- Line individual pie tins or a large pie dish with one sheet of puff pastry. Spoon in the meat mixture once slightly cooled.
- Cover with another sheet of pastry, trim edges, and crimp to seal. Cut a small slit in the top to let steam escape.
- Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until pastry is puffed and deep golden.
- Serve hot with classic Aussie-style tomato sauce on the side.
