Soft, golden, and cheesy with a salty savoury swirl — Cheese & Vegemite Scrolls are a true Aussie classic. Loved by kids and adults alike, these scrolls are the ultimate lunchbox filler, after-school snack, or grab-and-go breakfast.
With only a handful of ingredients and no yeast required, they’re quick to make and perfect for baking in batches. Even if you’re not usually a Vegemite fan — the melted cheese balances it perfectly.

- 2 cups self-raising flour
- ¾ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2–3 teaspoons Vegemite (to taste)
- 1½ cups grated cheddar cheese

- Spread a thin layer of Vegemite over the dough. Sprinkle evenly with most of the cheese.
- Roll tightly from the long side into a log. Slice into ~12 scrolls.
- Place scrolls cut-side up on the tray. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden and puffed. Cool slightly before serving.
